When we think of sports, it pretty exciting and fun for the rest of the world. But why isn’t sports as exciting in nepal, compared to the rest of the world and what causes it to be this way? These are some of the absurd feelings that i have when it comes to my country Nepal and particularly from a sports standpoint, i am sure lot of you out there feels the same way.
Is it the political turmoil in the last decade to blame for derailed sports in Nepal? Or Is it the bureaucracy in our ministry? We can simply keep asking questions and never get to a conclusion. The best way to look at derailed sports in Nepal is to look from a fan perspective. We have more fan of Manchester united and Chelsea than we have for our own local clubs. Although fans are not to blame here, what it shows here is the lack of presence of sports within our community, within our youngsters reach, that could potentially foster tomorrow’s sports industry.
As a country, our sports ministry should be able to carry out league at local levels and promote those talents in various sports at the national level. There should be enough funding for community driven sport events. This kind approach brings community together in the name of sports and with consistency, it is very much achievable in next 10 years.
