The six-month internship opportunity I had with IFES (International foundation for electoral system) was a great chance for learning and enhancing my professional skills. I still remember the day I received a call from IFES for being selected as an intern. I was very happy for having the opportunity to work in a prestigious organization but at the same time I had a trace of hesitation because I wasn’t sure if I was seeking for an internship or for a job. But, now looking back the six-month engagement experience with IFES, I’m so glad I made the right choice. The internship was challenging and rewarding, allowing me to practice my working abilities, broadening my horizon, grooming friendships, and growing as an employee. I am also grateful for having a chance to meet so many wonderful people and professionals who led me though this internship period.
IFES has helped a lot in uplifting my career by making me able to understand my potential and capabilities. I got chance to meet with many national and international expertise working in different field. I am glad to get a chance to interact with various stakeholders of ECN (Election Commission Nepal) and know about the institutional structure of ECN and its roles and responsibilities. I have been able to discuss about the electoral provision included in new constitution with my friends and families and have also been able to tell them about the importance of citizenship certificate and voters education.
Looking back these six months that went by very soon, I have cherished every moment. I can now realize how organizations work and what it expects from an employee. All these skills that I have learnt will put me in a place where I can work more efficiently so that I can comply with any organization’s expectations. All these months my skills knowledge and attitude has had a drastic transformation. I will maintain my learning throughout my career and one-day stand to be a best employee.
