Pregnancy bump is often regarded as a topic of shame in the remote villages of Nepal where pregnant women are still encouraged to drape a shawl or scarf to hide their tiny world where their babies are happily hiding before they jump out into this beautiful world. Pregnant women residing at the remote villages of Nepal tends to have many spiritual beliefs in regards to pregnancy talk. Upon conversation with few pregnant women of Lamidada, a small village in Okhaldhunga district of Nepal, many pregnant women believed that exposing and showing off their baby bump might bring trouble in future which might affect the health and growth of their babies. Most of them believed that child being sick after the birth is also blamed on the mother as she didn’t properly cover her bump. Such deep routed taboos have created many stigmas related to pregnancy in the rural villages which needs to be changed. However, we require to educate and aware people of rural areas about pregnancy. They must understand the fact that pregnancy is a beautiful journey which should be enjoyed by every pregnant woman. Every people should accept the fact that pregnancy is a natural process of giving a life to a purest soul.
