The lockdown has been extended up to June 3, 2021 midnight in Kathmandu valley. The meeting of Chief District Officers (CDO) of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur decided to extend the lockdown by a week due to the ongoing rise in COVID-cases .
The CDO office has maintained that the lockdown will be stricter and even the grocery shops will be closed. The citizens are not allowed to go for morning or evening walks as well. The sale of essential food like fruits, vegetables, meat, drinking water, cooking gas is allowed between 6.00 – 9.00 am. The CDO of Kathmandu, Mr Kali Prasad Prajuli informed in the press release.
Mr Ranbir Tamang, a labour worker from Kathmandu valley was concerned as even the construction work is not allowed from May 28, 2021, until June 3, 2021. The lockdown has caused several problems to the day-to-day workers who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The government is being criticized that it is not doing enough to contain the coronavirus cases and is engaged in solving its political party turmoil only. As of today, there are 535,525 confirmed cases with 117,077 active cases in Nepal .
