Continuously Changing Landscape of Workplace
Since the advent of the industrial revolution, the workers and the workplaces have been experiencing rapid changes. Workplaces have been through a paradigm shift affecting their methods of operation. Some prominent factors catalyzing changes across all workplaces are globalization, introduction of modern technology and stronger control of outside investors. Current pandemic could be viewed as one such catalyst that changed working style shifting workplaces from offices to homes. This is mostly likely to find permanence in future. Workplaces now aim for gaining high employee turnover rates, diverse work force and technical shifts.
At present, digital skills are of outmost priority across all workplaces owing to the recent advances in Internet and Communication Technology (ICT). Devices like laptops and smartphones have become a regular thing across offices as the population continues to leverage the power of those machines.
Managers equally face the heat of the situation as they tackle to changing aesthetics of the marketplace and his/her office itself. While leading their workforce, they are challenged with implications brought about by the changing nature of work which requires them to be more competent and lenient than before.
Hence, the incessant changes in workplaces brought about by the advancement in technologies are setting higher standards for the workers and the organization. The skillsets required to perform a job are forever changing thus acquiring new skills and knowledge is critical for betterment of all sides. Managers need to be educated with the recent social and technological aspects of work. What is essential is creating a continuous learning and developing culture throughout the whole organization setting. Upgrading qualifications, skills and developing personality will prove beneficial and effective to tackle the changing dynamics of workplace.
