A fan packed Lakers staple center arena after missing eight years, their first home playoff victory. Lakers took a commanding 2-1 series load with 109-95 and the following game schedule on Sunday afternoon at the staples center, they can be in the driver’s seat with the one game away from the next round.
The game started with the quick foul by Anothy Davis in only 15 seconds for a questionable 3 point foul to Jae Crowder. Drummond came up with a huge block on Devin Booker which let the fans leave the seat as he got a nice dunk on the following play as well. The game went back and forth as the Lakers look totally dominant in the point as they were scoring most of their points in the paint. But Devis Booker was able to carve the LA defense and was able to lead by a point gong to the second quarter. Lebron James came alive in the second quarter as he made couple of nice assist to Alex Caruso and Andre Drummond for a vicious dunk to take the lead. Both teams struggled to score as the defense picked up and were several turnovers forced as the game went on Kyle Kuzma came alive as he knocked his first 3 pointer of the series to take a mere lead. But both team failed to generate much offense and the Lakers took a slim lead of 43-45 point to the half. Starting the 3rd quarter Lebron James came alive and scored quick 6 points to take a 9 point lead. The LA defense was more active and crated turnovers and forcing misses to lead the game on and eventually led by a double digit advantage for the night.
LA continues to execute well on both ends as Anthony Davis started to dominate the final minutes of the 3rd by scoring nine consecutive points and having a full control with the double digit lead going to the fourth quarter.
LA started to hit the open threes on back to back possession by Wesley Mattews and all of a sudden their lead went back to 18. The LA crowd got more involved into the game as the Lakers fed off their energy, with James going one on one with Jae Crowder in isolation situations. The phoenix suns tried to get back in the game as Cameron Payne hit three consecutive triples to cut the LA lead to single digit but the LA offense keep grinding and sealed the drama in the game at the line.
There was a late drama in the game as Devin Booker received a flagrant two foul on Dennis Schroder and was ejected followed by his team mate Jae Crowder . Anthony Davis had a monstrous game with 34 points and Lebron James had 21 points with 9 assists.
