The government of Nepal has decided that the evaluation of Secondary Education Examination (SEE) will be done internally. Last year as well, the respective schools had sent the marks for the students due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The ministry of Education, science and technology meeting on Monday decided that due to the current pandemic situation, it would be not possible to take examinations of the students. The education board of Nepal had requested the ministry to make alternative arrangements for the examination.
SEE, which was known as School Leaving Certificate (SLC) earlier, was called Iron gate for the students. The students passing SLC were said to have crossed the iron gate and were believed to have been ready for the next phase of life. However, the charm of SEE is not much now as passing SEE has become quite common especially for the students studying in private boarding schools.
The national examinations board has been constantly updating the marking scheme. The SLC marks were graded in percentage before and the record of the students who scored the highest among all of Nepal were made publicly available. However, now the grading has been changed to Grade Point Average (GPA) scheme.
