Presenting the annual budget of 2078/79, Hon. Finance Minister Bishnu Prashad Poudel informed that 1,629 megawatts of electricity will be added to the national transmission line from the production output of Upper Tamakoshi’s three units and other power stations. 
228 megawatts from Upper Tamakoshi, 111 megawatts from RasuwaGadhi, 56 megawatts from Sanjen and Upper Sanjen, 36 megawatts from Trishuli 3 B electricity will be connected to the national grid line. 
Also, 40 megawatts from Rahughat, 102 megawatts from Middle Bhetokoshi coupled with production from Private sector which are under construction amounting to a total of 1055 megawatts electricity could also be added in the national transmission line.
Some faults observed during the testing phase of the Upper Tamakoshi has delayed the electricity production.
To encourage electricity use, the government has freed taxes on electrical equipment’s that are used in households such as washing machines, microwave oven, electric stoves et cetera.
As the supply potential of electricity increases, the government is encouraging people to use more electricity. The budget reveal also has ambitions of providing electricity in different places of 43 districts that lack electricity as of now.
Government also announced that households that consume only 150 units of electricity annually will get 50 percent discount on the payment fees. Similarly, those consuming 250 units will receive 30 percent discount.
