A mother has to loss very huge amount of energy during the pregnancy and also after the pregnancy. Once a mother gives birth to a child, risk of the malnutrition arises for both the baby and the mother. Risk of malnutrition is high for the baby as compared to mother. This may lead to slow growth of muscles, skeleton, brain and various other body parts of the baby. Breast feeding is one of the major sources of food and nutrients for the baby of age group 0M-6M. But, for the sake of milk formation and breast feeding, a mother has to give up certain amount of energy, which leads to malnutrition of the mother during the period and after the pregnancy. Many women are unaware of this fact due to which they get suffered from dehydration, deficiency of different types of vitamins, minerals and sometimes they may suffer from blood deficiency.
It is very important for the consumption of the right number of vitamins and minerals for the mother before and after the pregnancy. A mother may get deprived of Folic Acid during the pregnancy due to which a mother after the pregnancy may suffered from Anemia. For the same, a mother has to take the fruit and vegetables rich in Folic Acids such as Green Vegetables, orange, lemon etc.
Malnutrition in a mother may affects her child in the womb. This may lead to improper development of the child and child may of under weight during the time of birth. Improper development and under weight of the child may further cause various other diseases in the baby. Also, the baby may suffer from different types of diseases in his lifetime such as osteoporosis, chronic kidney failure, Heart Diseases, Type 2 Sugar, Lung’s diseases etc.
Malnutrition in the mother may also lead to premature birth of the child and also miscarriage.

For the formation of hemoglobin our body needs the proper amount of iron. Hemoglobin is present in the RBC which is responsible for the circulation of oxygen in various parts of the body. If iron is not consumed in the right proportion, level of hemoglobin starts to decrease slowly and this may lead to anemia in the body. Due to this we may feel fatigue and loss of energy. After the birth of the child, a mother use of to feel loss of energy and fatigue. To overcome this a mother, have to consume iron rich foods.
For the consumption of iron by our body, Glucose is also needed in our body. After the birth of the child, women are more attracted towards the loss of the body weight. For this they go on diet due to which they may get deficient in the various nutrients. This is very much dangerous. Weight also gets decreased due to breastfeeding. Women who are indulged in breast feeding loses 300 calories daily.
A mother should intake balanced diet along with the light exercise. Excess intake of calories shall have to be prohibited. If the delivery of the children is normal then a mother can start to do light exercise after certain days of the child birth but in case of c-section of the birth of the child, a mother can start to do exercise after 6 weeks of the delivery of the child.
