The wizards live to see another day with Westbrook having triple double with 19 points, 21 rebounds and 14 assists. But he just shot 3-19 fy and still managed to get 19 while being on the free throw line most of the game. Rui Hachimura had big shots and Daniel Gafford who was bullied by Joel Embiid for most of the series was in vintage form what he is capable of doing for the Wizards nation. Bradley Beal led the wizards with 27 points. The wizards did a lot of right things in this game as this game was decided in the 1st quarter when Joel Embiid took a hard fall after a drive to the basket. Gafford is evolving into a great center with mobility, efficiency and a great shot blocker. He had 12 points (4-4fg) 4 rebounds and 5 blocks in just 26 minutes. He had the highest +/- rating on the team.
Joel Embiid left the game and didn’t return with right knee soreness. With still 76ers leading 3-1 up in the series they didn’t try to push anything which may cause them more damage going to the 2nd round possibly facing a better team. Their hopes still hinge on the health of Joel Embiid just like Anthony Davis of Los Angeles Lakers if they want to compete for the championship run. Ben Simmons had a rough night with foul trouble through much of the game. In the final minutes Washington intentionally fouled ‘hack a Ben’ and forced him to be in the line as he shot just 4-8 ft and was 5-11 for the night. Tibial Hariis led the 76ers with 21 points but only shot 8-24 from the floor. Tyrese Maxey had 15 and George Hill 14 off the bench for the 76ers.
It was really a good night for the suffering wizards fan, but the big surprise of the night was when a fan ran out of the stands to the court, jumped up and touched the backboard but was tackled by the security as the game was stopped. He has been banned from all the future games at the capital one arena. All the credits to the wizards, as they took advantage of being Embiid out and played their best defensive game of the series so far where they held 76ers to shoot just 41.7% overall, 31.6% from 3 with a offensive rating of 104.6 where the 76ers had 128.3 offensive rating through the first 3 games.
Washington picked up a 122-114 win and the series is headed back to Philadelphia game 5 on Wednesday night leading 3-1 series.
