Feminism involves working against systems aimed at oppressing certain groups and fighting for equality for everyone. The idea that women have full social, economic, and political equality is central to feminism. Feminism has developed, but the feminist spirit has global manifestation and difference in response to Western traditions which have limited women’s rights. It means supporting intersectionally and recognizing how feminism affects race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. It means fundamental civil discussions with people to try to promote change through education and awareness. It involves a meaningful position on injustices and fighting for inequality.
Feminism has been broadcasted as a wrong perspective that pinpoints women’s rights to the limelight which quite the contrary. Feminism is inclusive of all caste, sexual orientation, economic status, and social status of an individual. Feminism paradigms have had impactful and long-term social impacts, transforming and profiting women’s and girls’ lives worldwide. In the face of social injustices, feminism has challenged and faced the interwoven ramifications of gender, race, class, culture, nation, religion, sexual preference, and disability, and has drawn attention to the innumerable other compelling cases of discrimination and oppression.
Nowadays, the headlines focus each day on feminist critics such as rape/gang rapes, marital equity, and sexual assaults in school premises, workplace equality, race violence, and disparities in the health sector. For centuries, women around the world have worked to recognize, analyse and improve the real and complex problems that threatened women’s and girls’ well-being.
Women seeking the most basic civil rights have been rejected, harassed, imprisoned, and even tortured and killed for the basic rights to vote, to own property, to work, to control their bodies. In the 1890s the business office of reporter Ida B. Wells was blamed and forced to flee from the South by challenging the racist myths of the lynching. British suffragan Sylvia Pankhurst was fed by force in jail. A 15-year-old Pakistani girl, Malala Yousafzai, was shot for promoting education for women. By reducing hundreds of years of discrimination, we owe these feminists a great deal of debt to their courage, intelligence, altruism, and impact.
When women receive equal social status in society, feminism carves the path to accelerated self-esteem and admiration for women. These behaviours when implemented in the society boost the sense of belongingness which encourages them to volunteer and be more giving towards the people who have been affected by the discriminations. It is mandatory to mention that feminism has assisted in addressing many taboos that have been deep-rooted in our community. It has enlightened the public regarding the sheer importance of equality. It was quite necessary to make most of the men realize their roles in the house to get more involved in the household activities. The most common perspective that women are the ones who should be confined to nurturing children and taking care of household activities is being questioned by the feminists and now in most parts of the countrymen have come to a better understanding regarding this. Big applause to all the feminists out there. Feminist has helped enlighten the world about the LGBTQ community and is the responsible factor for reducing hate crimes. There is no doubt that the society around us is more authentic since both men and women have come together to promote feminism.
Like any other sector, feminism has its downside too. In many countries feminism is believed to influence western culture rooting out the long followed tradition. In some cases, these might not be so menacing than it sounds. In many communities it is been reported that feminism is used as a weapon to not bear child which might not be in the favour of the family. Feminism results in the depletion of a woman who is the traditional values and strength of her family and her loved ones. There can be many detrimental effects of feminism in women’s personal lives as it can lead to disturbances and misunderstandings in relations to demand equal rights in every sector. The above aspects depicts that the objection to feminism is more inclined towards the culture aspect indicating the brighter side of feminism outweighs the darker side and feminism is much needed in the world.
