The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex rose over 383 points by gains in financial and realty stocks. The 30- share BSE index reached 53,232 whereas the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty moved 110 points to reach a record high of 15,686.
The top gainers in the Sensex index were Titan, ONGC, L&T, Axis Bank and Kotak Bank. The losers were IndusInd Bank, Dr Reddy, Bajaj Auto, Hcl Tech and Powergrid.
The market is waiting for the Reserve Bank of India’s(RBI) meeting on Friday. The RBI is expected to keep the key rate record low, and maintain enough liquidity as the country struggles containing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The country has started seeing decline in COVID-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, the total cases reported were around 130 thousand.
