Lumbini garden foundation, a Spanish organization constituted in Extremadura, Spain, in March 2021 in association with the city of Lumbini in Nepal has put forward the ambitious plan of construction of Lumbini garden in Caceres, Spain with an estimated cost of a whopping 10 billion rupees.
The highlight of Lumbini garden will be a 40-meter-tall statue of Lord buddha along with reflection of the Nepalese architectural style in other areas of the construction.
The chairman of Lumbini garden foundation, Jose Manuel Villanova, confirmed that the inception of this huge project is not too far, with the foundation set to be laid in less than two years’ time. He said that the most important step was to acquire the land for construction, for which the organization has been promised full support from state and regional governments.
Chairman Villanova said that Despite Lumbini garden being an ambitious project, raising funds has not been a big issue so far and he believes that every peace-loving nation and its citizens will contribute and provide support for the realization of this project in the later stages too.
Countries like Myanmar, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka etc, where Buddhism and Lord Buddha have a special place in people’s heart, have also agreed to collaborate and provide necessary financial support for construction of the Lumbini garden.
The president of the national assembly of Nepal, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, along with the mayor of Lumbini, recently visited Spain to discuss the proceedings of the project. Chairman Timilsina said that the Nepalese government and people of Nepal will give all the support required for the actualization of the project.
