Kawhi Leonard put on a clinic show against the Dallas Mavs to score his playoff career best 45 points. The Los Angeles Clippers beat Dallas 104-97 by forcing game 7 in the first postseason series in NBA history with the road team winning the first six games.
This is the 3rd time the Clippers won in front of a raucous Dallas crowd. The victory gives Los Angeles another last shot to eliminate Dallas in front of their home crowd on sunday. Luka Doncic scored 29 points but was just 2 of 9 from the 3 points range as LA defense shut him up and pressed more in the key moments and held just 29% shooting in the fourth quarter. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 23 points but missed a 3 pointer and a lay-up in the closing minutes.
Reggie Jackson scored 13 of his 25 points in the first quarter to help keep LA close early, while Porzingis was again a non-factor for Dallas with just seven points in 31 minutes. Pau George chipped in 20 points for LA. The biggest lead for either team from the middle of the 2nd quarter to the end of 3rd was 7 points Dallas edge. The Clippers erased that deficit quickly with their best defensive intensity of the game and sparked a stunning 11-0 run capped by a 3 pointer from leonard.
Kawhi was on a mission tonight. Board Man went 18 for 25 and created almost 100% of the shots himself and single handedly dragged the clippers to win. He scored 8 straight points from the final 3 minutes mark and hit back to back 3 pointers. He is a silent killer and one of the big superstars of the league. He took over the game when it mattered most. He’s one of the best clutch performers ever to walk the game.
