The Netherlands grabbed a thrilling one run victory against Ireland in the series opener. The Dutch who posted only 195 while struggling at 53-5 at one stage, but a decent knock by Van der with 49 helped them to post a respectable total.
In reply Ireland were in a heap of trouble early in the chase by losing quick wickets but Stirling and Simi with a good partnership put them on track. There were just 24 needed of 30 balls with 4 wickets in hand. It was a game they already had in their beginning but Seelar had other things in his mind and Struck two wickets in an over to tapered the chase for Ireland. There was a lot of drama in the final over as 3 was needed in the last ball to secure the victory for Ireland but the Dutch held their nerves and allowed just 1 run to seal the deal.
This game was really a cracker to witness, which had several ebbs and flows and at the end just a solitary run separated the two sides. I’m pretty sure Ireland will be kicking themselves of the way to squandered a golden chance to pocket the win.
