Afghanistan and Bangladesh shared a point each as a crucial game in the world cup qualifiers for both national teams ended in a 1-1 draw at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.
The result of the game favored neither of the teams further denting their hopes of qualification. Bangladesh is yet to win a game in the ongoing qualifiers whereas Afghanistan has only one win in 6 matches.
In a game dominated by the Afghanistan national team, Bangladesh scored in the 84th minute with the help of their defender Topu barman to nullify the goal scored by afghani striker Amredin Mohammad Anwar Sharifi in the 48th minute of the match.
Bangladesh will face India on Monday, while Afghanistan will take on Oman on June 11 with the hopes of advancing to the next round hanging on the line for both teams.
As things stand in the group E table, Asian champions Qatar have already assured third-round qualification while the bottom 3 teams: Afghanistan, India, and Bangladesh are out of the world cup qualifiers.
