Martyrs are ones who sacrificed their life in various movements launched to establish democracy and voice civic rights. Every year we observe martyr’s day on 16th Magh by offering garlands and flowers in their remembrance and also organize various blood donation campaigns, rallies to spread their work and contribution. Similarly, we did observe martyr memorable week this year from, 10th to 16th Magh amid the lockdown and widely celebrated through social media network.
This day is observed mainly in the memory of four main martyr’s: Shukra Raj Shastri, Dasarath Chand, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Ganga Lal Shrestha as well as the others who sacrificed their life to end autocratic Rana regime and established democracy in Nepal.
To commemorate their contributions statue of the four martyrs have been placed at Sahid gate in Kathmandu and Sahid park of Hetauda.
On the occasion of martyr’s day, various representatives of the political party show their respect and honor the valuable contributions of all the memorable martyrs.
Observing martyr’s day is simply not enough if we do not continue to support their vision and share their unparalleled deeds. We need to continue to keep their dreams alive to make Nepal a peaceful, inclusive and democratic country.
