Students and Civilians of Budapest city has protested against the building of China’s Fudan University Campus in their Hungarian Capital.
Their PM Viktor Orban from the right wing party has close ties with Beijing. The opponents of the project believe that the Chinese University will undercut the city’s own education and broaden the Chinese Communist authority’s influence in the region.

The estimated budget for the construction of the Fudan University is $1.8bn. The budget figure is more than what the ruling government spent in its higher education system in 2019.
Out of the estimated budget, some $1.5bn will be provided as a loan from a Chinese bank, showed a Hungarian Journalism outlet.
Liberal Think tank Republikan Institute states that the Chinese University is opposed by around two thirds of Hungarian Population. Mayor, Budapest Gergely Karacsony too stands in opposition of the project.
