Finland has a fairytale start to the tournament as they beat unlucky Denmark to start their debut euro campaign. The game was full of drama but ended pretty well for the Finland team who was making their debut in Euros.
Denmark had more than one problem in the game as their star player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field towards the end of first half which halted the game for quite a long time. Medic team was instantly signaled as soon as he collapsed and performed CPR on the field itself and was then rushed to the hospital which led to suspension of the game. The game began shortly when Eriksen was declared stable , but the Danes were in too much shock to make the most out of their chances.
Denmark dominated both the halves but failed to create and convert any significant chances. They were soon in trouble when Joel Pohjanpalo’s header bounced in front of Kasper Schmeichel which he failed to grab leading to the only goal of the game. Their unlucky afternoon continued when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s penalty was saved by Lukas Hradecky which added more misery to Denmark.
Fans can though take a shy of relief as Eriksen was declared stable and is out of danger and eagerly waits on the news of his further participation in the tournament
With this result, Finland sits on top of Group B, making it a lot more difficult for other teams to qualify from the group.
