The Islamic State Group (ISS) has shot dead 10 mine clearers and injured more than a dozen of the workers in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan. The victims worked for the Halo Trust.
ISS shortly took the responsibility for the attack through its channels on the Telegram Messaging App.
Since the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan, violence has been surging in the country.
Mr. Cowan of the Halo Trust told that the attackers had targeted the members of the Hazara ethnic community.
Hazaras being the country’s third largest ethnic group, has long faced discrimination and persecution, owing to their Shia Muslim faith.
