The National Association of Petroleum Dealers in Nepal says that the petroleum business could be shut down without a proper vaccination system for oil workers.
In a press release on Sunday, the association said that everyone in the oil business should get vaccinated immediately. Although the oil corporation and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply have repeatedly requested the availability of the vaccine, the vaccine is not available in the oil business so far.
According to a statement, 11 people have died due to Covid-19 in the petroleum industry so far. At present the number of active infected has reached 168.
“Gas station operators, employees, tank truck drivers and co-drivers working in the area are at greater risk and the business could be shut down if vaccines are not available,” the statement said.
The association has been requested to provide the same vaccine as 10,346 people are involved in the oil trade across the country.
