As per the provision of Article 168(6) of Nepal’s constitution Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province won the vote of confidence from the 59 members of assembly of the province.
Pokharel was the parliamentary leader of ruling party Nepali Congress in the Gandaki Province. He was appointed as the Chief Minister of the Gandaki Province on 12th of June following the procedure given by the article 168(5). He also won the support of members of CPN- Maoist, Rastriya Janamorcha Party, Janata Samajwadi Party. Also, he has won the support of independent law maker. He has got the vote of confidence one week later after he assumed the office. Out of 58 votes casted on Friday, he secured 31 votes while the 27 voted against him. All the casted votes were declared valid. As per the constitution provision he has required to receive the vote of confidence or the support from the assembly within 30 days from the date of his appointment to the office. As per the provision of the article 188(4), Pokharel will remain in the office for the next two years from the date of his appointment.
